sometimes life gives us things
backwards, like loving the right man
wrongly, which is more sin
than laughing loud & running
on sunday, but less
than murder. still
when things are given
they should be held
gently and not too tight;
that want to shout,
that beat wings
colored and fragile
against the cage of my hands
i do not know
which is wise
to hold this feeling in
or let it fly
Feelings are feelings and can’t be conscripted. Follow them to their roots. Your attitude and behaviour are the only variables worth considering. And still the sun will shine tomorrow, regardless if it rains today.
Its confusing at times, and that’s what makes life spicy !!!
Yes, it is–and always fun!
Reblogged this on shafiqah1 and commented:
Maybe we should walk backward for a day in take in the sights Susan, because I always get it mixed up. Like I wonder, which way is up? 😀
🙂 great comment–yes–let’s do the backwards thing for the day!
i thought it was supposed to get easier? what gives? great poem Susan.. you have captured the sense of duality and its questions masterfully
a series of beautiful pepples of shades!
Thanks much, Deb
This is beautiful!
‘…should be held gently and not too tight.’ Like this lots.
‘should be held gently and not too tight.’ less they crumble. Let the feelings fly less they stifle you. Beautiful words, Susan
Oh, my, Celestine–thanks! Glad you enjoyed. I let these float/fly 😉
