of the more
you are the most
& my smallness leaps
to the tallest feeling
of this
pouring
like water
into me
& escaping
this mouth
before I can dam it
love
****Why is it lately these Cummings-like images enter my mind while I am driving somewhere? They are fun, though! I am going to get ticketed for driving under the influence–but, influence of what?
Great poem, Susan. Short and crisp and mult-ilayered with meanings, as usual.
It inspired this response – written under the influence of escaping jets of water streaming across the oceans!
what good is a spring,
if it simply wells inside
unseen, unfelt, untouched?
springs seek release
find release
leap and spring forth
surge to find release
(and release us)
to feed the parched earth
a destiny we call escape.
That, M. Noel, is stunning–love the question and it’s answer. A destiny we call escape—-perfect! Hope you had time to get your raincoat 🙂
The released waters unchain,
unbind and wash clean
and deep
no raincoats here please
Very nice–want to do a joint effort with this?
my thoughts exactly – see my comments and invitation to you in my rusty french to put together a duet of four stanzas on the basis of your prompt poem and our exhanges! You are lucky you did not come to the world during the time of Joan D’Arc. It would have been “vite, aux poteaux” for witchcraft and for reading people’s minds!
eh bien, good for me I wasn’t–and miss out on writing poetry with you? Double tragedy.
je te lance donc un enjeu! “Confectionnes” un duet de quatre versets a partir de nos reflexions et echanges sur ton poeme! vas-y!
um…..I thought you said your French was rusty? Merci, et commencons! I am in desperate need of the correct accent keys for French!
Au boulot! et bosses bien!
starting it now (you are a strict taskmaster, sir!)
Driving under the influence of creative grammar. . . ? They’ll think you’re nuts or perhaps some kind of anarchist. Both could be good. 🙂
of the 2, I would prefer to be an anarchist, but both end up locked up 😦
Same here. And both would. That’s why we need more space for both wildness and e.e. cummings.
Jeremy–your comments are an inspiration in themselves….please keep ’em coming!
Inspiration is always fun…
I love it & will take it whenever I am offered it–despite my complaints to the contrary.
he he he, me too with the getting pulled over in my craziness…although not cummings but really good thought…fun Susan!
Thanks Jennifer–now we’ll have to see if I can keep up the word play for 4 stanzas.
We each have our personal a’muse’ments that inspire us to add more beauty to the world in which we live. I’m working on getting a secretary for my shower….maybe you could get a chauffer for your drive?
Yes, as long as he knew when to be quiet! With my sense of direction, and under the influence of the muse, I might end up in Texas….
LOL…just tell him to stay due East and you’ll end up at my door!
Hee, hee
As a matter of fact, my brother moonlights as a limo driver, but pretty sure I can’t afford him…
Ha! Make him do it gratis for your having to put up with him (not that I know a thing about him…but it sounded good.)
🙂 well, he does live in PA, rofl 🙂
Well hell, PA is close to NY! If it were easy, you’d ask Thom to do it! lol.
