:)…and every poem I write I am still suprised. For me Susan, I have decided it was never really writers block. Sometime we should talk. Congrats on all the wonderful poetry pouring out.
-Jennifer
Congrats to you too, Jen–would love to talk some time. I had a creative writing prof who once said the times we did not write were fallow, and the work would be written inside us and come out when ready. Maybe she was right 🙂
there is a season for everything under the heavens!
There certainly is–and it is my season for shouting, where I have been so politely silent 🙂
Uhh ohh, there is a poem in that statement too…. Must run and get paper and pen!
let creativity flow, let the mind open, explore and conjure, every thought a fiine paintbrush to stroke the open smiling skies and fill them with a thousand new songs bubbling now and surging forth and forward, with the impatience of little children at break time, rushing from the fallow years, foaming and free like fresh palm wine and infesting the world with their liberating yeast!
Noel–you have such a beautiful gift–poetry (really all art and creativity) as an exuberant, organic infection–LOVE IT!
Wow, that is remarkable. I went through a dead year quite recently … but that was just one year. Good on you, Susan. Keep them coming!
Thank you, George 🙂
I do have to say waking up with a poem on the mind, and going to bed with one forming is wonderful–enjoying the gift from the universe while it lasts.
Well said, Susan. I am glad you have this opportunity in your life to not only experience that pleasure, but to share it with others.
Susan, it is inspiring to see the break through after so long…makes one believe that no matter the time, no matter the place, no matter the subject…it is all relevant and will be revealed in it’s time. I am just finding this out and am glad to be able to enjoy your ‘re-birth’!
Rhonda
Thanks Rhonda!
Susan, hope you don’t mind, but I nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. If you choose to accept, here is the link:
http://help-me-rhonda.com/2012/05/06/the-versatile-blogger-award/
If not, just wanted you to know how wonderful I think your work is.
Rhonda
Rhonda–thanks so much for the nomination, but I can’t accept it yet–only been on here a month, and do not know enough blogs yet to nominate in turn 🙂
Check back with me in a month, and I’ll be glad to do it.
Thanks so much of thinking about my blog for this award 🙂
LOL…I’m sorry to laugh, but I know how you feel. My first one I was so lucky, i had JUST enough. No fear…you will be nominated again and again I’m sure. How could you not?
Rhonda
Thank you Rhonda!
Thanks for the like Susan…It is the absolute truth. New friends and New Places…it is what blogging has become. The writing, amazingly, has become secondary.
Susan, wanted to check in to see if you had begun your “smoke-less journey” yet. If so, how is it going? If not, let me know when so I can be ready with a motivating pick-me-up!
Rhonda
Hi 🙂 Tomorrow I slap on a patch & start–I have been cutting down the past few days, which has made me a bit moody–poor Thom & the kids… Will definitely welcome some motivation then and desperately need it! How are you doing on yours?
Ummmm…’nuf said. LOL I actually put it off a week because dear Husband hates to see me unhappy (sure, that’s why) and came home the very day I quit with a carton because he knew I was almost out! Love him and hate him at the same time. 🙂 But this is it, when it’s gone, it’s done. I think I’ll be ok if I can keep my fingers busy…look out blogging world is all I’m sayin;
🙂 Last time I quit for 2 days, Thom brought me back a carton of cigarettes–apparently he didn’t want to deal with the evil person I become when going through nic withdrawal, so this time, I am going with the patch–not for my sake, but theirs 🙂
I get it, completely. I’ve tried the remedies, even Chantix. I need to go cold turkey. I hope it works for you.
I think cold turkey is the way to go–I mean they don’t have a crack patch do they? Cigarettes have to be easier than that (not that I would know–any recovering addicts out there want to chime in?) Maybe I should offer to go into a padded cell for a few days to detox first….. Away from everything 🙂
If only we could…to do it alone without fear of offending someone or being a crab with the family. Hmmmm, maybe a road trip is in order. Not a bad idea Susan.
🙂
I’m so excited–I just figured out how to put a link to my Facebook page in my widgets–how come I am so tech challenged I find this exciting?
LOL…you sound like me. After I put that widget on mine I kept going to my FB page to see if my posts were showing up. When they did I actually Whoo Hooed. How sad 🙂
🙂 I think we are pretty close in age–I am 45, a former programmer, and it shames me to be so excited about these new-fangled thingies you can do now 🙂
I am a tad (or a tick) older than you…but hey, once you reach a certain age…it’s only a number (52) lol
Not much at all, m’dear. Remember, 60 is the new 40….
Well THAT makes me feel better. I’ve still got time to get used to turning 40! Yay
🙂 Yep–it’ll take me a while…
Hey you…thanks for taking time out of your Mother’s Day to visit me! I hope you are enjoying this day…I know I am. All the best,
Rhonda
A pleasure, as always–going back to sitting back with my feet up & reading…..Happy Mom Day to you, too!
Glad to hear you are taking time for you! Hubby is doing the laundry for me today…still have to cook but that’s a love of mine, so it’s all good! 🙂
You have been nominated for being so great! Beautiful Blogger Award waiting for you on my site! Congrats!
Awwww–thanks!
Guess this means its time for me to decide which of you wonderful peeps to nominate….
Yes and that’s the hard part.
thank your for “linking” my post…following… love poetry…trying to write too good day!
Thank you Doris–loved the pics 🙂
you write your posts with so much whimsy that is very nice reading them.http://www.letraemusica.net
Oh, thanks so very much!
Found you through brianinajar – following you as a fellow poet.
Wonderful! Thanks for the follow and great to meet you!
I dont know if i have said this yet, but you are an inspiration. Not only is your poetry wonderful and spirit filled, it is also prolific. There are times when I might write one or two poems a day and then there are times i might write one for the entire month. You, always seem to post at least three or four aday. That is beautiful to me. I pray to as an attentive listener to my muse as you are.
Christopher, thank you. That voice is as times a whisper, but more often than not an impatient buzz in my ear 🙂
Keep listening–your work, for lack of a better word, is mesmerizing.
thank you
I really love your poetry, it’s strangely conversationally lyrical. Like someone sing-talking to you about something amazingly ordinary. Thanks for following my blog, mostly because it led me to yours.
Oh my goodness–what you said–it is so beautiful! Glad I found you too!
I notice your blog goes a long way back, is that because you collected old poetry and posted it or have you been blogging that long?
I put some old, old, old stuff on here–found in a folder. I have just been blogging since April.
Oh, ok. That does make talking to you a little less daunting. Experience while enchanting is also often intimidating. Though I suppose that’s skipping over your experience as a poet and a person, which is the more important part anyway.
Hey–don’t be daunted. I put on my shoes one at a time, and I love, love, love your poetry.
Thank you. Do you have an About page? I was having trouble finding it, possibly because it doesn’t exist.
No about page…zapped it inadvertently when I set the blog up
Ah ok, you mind if I ask for a little bit about you then? Your poetry makes me curious.
sure–go head
Where are you from? Originally and currently.
I was born and raised in Western New York. Lived in Florida for a while. Have been writing loads of poetry for the last 3-4 months after a 17-year writer’s block.
Wait, New York the city or the state?
Also 17 years? That sounds nightmarish.
New York State…and it was a total nightmare…
Yeah, glad you’re through it though. I live up in Victoria, in British Columbia, which is in Canada. You probably already knew some of that but Victoria is not as famous as New York. How did you get writing again?
Of all things, a political poem on here called “Land of the White Man”
Politics upset me, and have not stopped since
Just read it, I like it.
Thanks 🙂
Stopped writing after my sister passed away suddenly in 1995–just could not deal, I guess.
I was talking to my little brother, who expressed disbelief in the very concept of writer’s block. Which I thought was silly. It is interesting how a death in the family can trigger different reactions in people. The death of my mom was followed soon after by me writing poetry a lot more, though the two events aren’t that closely related.
Understood. For me to write, I have to be honest at the core of myself, the center, if you will. Could not face that pain, and write through it. Glad you did, though.
Well through it might not be the right word, more like alongside it. I tried writing a poem about how I felt about my mother and her death. Came out rather mangled. I’ll try again at some later point though.
ouch–took me 2 years and 8 poems.
I’m afraid I’m going to have to say goodbye for now. I have a poem about ants to write for a contest. Here’s the address if you’re interested. http://flashlightcityblues.wordpress.com/2012/07/15/poetry-contest-subject-announcement/.
what fun–enjoy!
Came across your site whilst stalking Panda’s 🙂 Glad I did as you have some wonderful & intriguing pieces here, now if you don’t mind I shall stalk… I mean look around a bit more on yours 🙂
Oh, by all means–you are welcome!
I expect you’ve had a million of these and rightly so: this is a heartfelt one: http://faceatthewindow.wordpress.com/2012/12/27/wonderful-team-member-readership-award/
😀
Sweetie–thank you I no longer do the awards thing, but I am so happy you thought of me. Hugs!
It’s a pleasure…hugs back at you 😀
Not sure where to put this as our original link is closed! But here’s what I have so far:
Here’s what I have so far:
Three legged
swagger
with that flaccid half cocked
backwards firing
gun
you’re packing
won’t work here:
she can
read between the lines
around your alligator eyes
has drowned men
twice your size
in her moon pools
🙂
Ooo–I like! Now I can play with his response. I am playing the player, or are you? My brain hath thus farted.
Heyyy lovely one…I am the moochy man….can’t you tell? Haven’t been on for while so forgive me if I’ve already replied to this…
LOL, OK. Thought that was the case. You were warning him, so was not sure which POV you were taking, if that makes sense.
Love the drowning in eyes image.
Nice being here & thank you for being here…
I am so glad I met you, Lindy!
There is a journal you should submit your apocalypse poetry to Z-composition, http://zombiepoetry.com/ and they take more than zombie stuff, prefer humorous and dreams, all things!
You need to update your date of copyright for your blog to 1995-2013.
Good idea–I will.
Apocalyptic poetry, and now the pink polka-dots? Nice new background…same beautiful words
Thanks, Angie. Pink polka-dot apocalypse has a ring to it…
Are you still here? I would like to use the text of your Hyperboliic Acid on the face of an award called the AHA! which I created in April (for Adding Hyperbolic Acid to the Public Discourse). I was seeking images of bottled H.A. to use on the “certificate”, but I think your words as a sidebar might be more effective.
BTW, Apocalypse 10 is a stupendous work, by the way. So many people of faith feel just this way.
Hey Susan,
This morning I was reading my latest poems to my husband. He said “That first one sounds like something Susan would like.” Then he said “I don’t think she’s posted in a while.” “Nope.” I said. “Not for a while.”
Know that, even when you’re not posting, we’re still out here thinking of you.
All the best.
Alice
PS Today’s post leads with the poem he thought you’d like. It’s called “Tidy Tits”.
http://alicekeysmd.wordpress.com/2014/07/26/tidy-tits-the-god-channel-and-you-cant-eat-words/
Thanks, Alice! Say hi to your husband for me 😉
Just did. He says “hi” back. 🙂
