No more heroes

Superman doesn’t fly anymore
since his heart stopped
and now, with Lois Lane dead
who would he rescue anyway?

Our problems are too tricky to solve
by spinning the planet backwards
anymore/anyway

We outgrew our old superheroes and made new ones
but like anything else made over
they are less shiny, more crass and dented,

Deadpool replaces Spiderman
and men of steel rust
in stale storage.

About Susan L Daniels

I am a firm believer that politics are personal, that faith is expressed through action, and that life is something that must be loved and lived authentically--or why bother with any of it?

  1. Heroes come and go, it’s their legendary tales that stay in the world…

  2. each clime in its time and age
creates its heroes and its villains
in its own latitude and longitude bound images
of the good, the bad and the ugly
models cast from its many mental moulds
    of tears and fears,
    of knighthood and knavery
human-made yet they suffer no molds
    images reflecting the eternal conflict
    between the dark and light
wanting to defy time and place

heroes come in various sizes and shapes,
in varying color and shades and skin tones
and though epidermis may vary, blood color
remains the same, red even when dispensed
in GB of silver, gold or black gold
