Give me 59 small stones for my pocket
and i will skip prayers across my creek
for you
that’s my faith–
in stones and things harder than stone;
pebbles my rosary
and prayer is not just inside a voice
but in it’s skipping over.

Hello Susan… it’s been a long time and I’m glad to see you back. Really love the last stanza.. I can here the clicking of the pebbles on the rosary…
Thank you Bjorn–long time no see 😉
Schedule and bartenders have changed but there are things that’s unchanged.
Ah, yes; things harder than stone – speaks volumes!
Thank you, Jilly!
Always enjoy your writing, Susan. Good to see you. Good meditative piece. –Audra
Aw, thanks so much!
I love this! Prayers are so powerful, hard as stone, and it seems you take them quite seriously. 🙂
Thanks, Linda. When I am doing the throwing, yes I do.
I like that your faith is stronger than stones and using the stones as your rosary. I think I shall have to borrow that from you next time I head down to our creek for peaceful meditative times. And your About….great!!!!! Thank you for responding to this prompt.
Thanks so much for visiting!
Well, that as wrath the wait! Beautifully concise and totally focused.
*was worth the wait*
Thanks, Brian. I like the first comment version better 😉
59 small stores for your pocket… they make me think of the prayer beads many Greeks carry in their pockets.
That’s wonderful, and precisely what I was going for!
Now that’s wisdom!
Thanks so much!
Good to see you back, Susan, and still putting out great stuff.
Thanks, NB. Missed you!
You too Susan – as others have pointed out, it’s really easy to miss you.

Thank you!
This was a great poem.
Thank you!
I love that opening line and the offering of skipping stones/prayers across your creek…very kind of you. :~)
Skipping stones with prayers. Love this idea….into the ocean they go and they will be heard as they kerplunk, one by one. Angels overhead must sure hear.
Love the idea then of pebbles in the rosary.
Wonderful take on the prompt.
Thank you!
