Shutdown/Slimdown/Dumbdown

We just turned off the news in our house.

We are already, just a few days into it, sick of the rhetoric.  The brinkmanship of 80 members of the House of Reps, whipped by the BS of one Alfonso Cruz (that’s what I am calling him–no “Ted” on this blog) is, among a slew of other distasteful things, denying 800,000 federal employees their paychecks, shutting down the WIC program, and closing the national parks.  AND they are still getting paid while doing this.

One does not get to hold the US government hostage, and then whine that the other side is failing to negotiate.  The time to negotiate on the ACA was when it was a bill.  The time to eliminate it as unconstitutional was when the law was reviewed and judged by the SCOTUS.

Stay strong, President Obama and members of the senate.  I can tell you right now who will get my vote in 2014 and who will not.

As for the suicide caucus, impeach those bastards.  Impeach every last one of them.

About Susan L Daniels

I am a firm believer that politics are personal, that faith is expressed through action, and that life is something that must be loved and lived authentically--or why bother with any of it?

GO GIRL! I use to vote for the “person” but now it is just anybody that isn’t a republican. It’s terrible, to me, that it has come to that but what can we do? Leo

forget impeachment have them charged with treason… have them tried in one of the states they favour (you know one that still has the death penalty) and put on that jury those people who have had their pay withheld… that is my solution from north of the border…

    • Love it–although I oppose the death penalty. Just getting them out of office would be enough for me. If it were only that easy.

      • tjtherien says:

I am against the Death Penalty myself, it’s just there is irony if these “politicians” we’re faced with it as a result of their treason…as most of them I am sure staunchly support the Death Penalty… wonder how quickly their ideals would change given the prospect that they had been invited to the necktie party as guests of honor… lol…

    you turned off the news
next shoot that TV blast it
    once between the eyes

All that “news” doesn’t make it across the pond to “them fern parts” where I Iive now. Parks and WIC and employee paychecks are important, But have they canceled the bomb budget at the same time? Folks out here in about five or six countries would just like to know, you understand. And have they set the folks free from Guantanamo yet? Has constitutional free speech and privacy and due process been restored? Does Mr Obama still have his morning drone hit list to review and the right to declare war without asking a soul?

There’s a noisy and distracting piece of entertainment being televised while the real story’s are missed.

Sorry for the rant. I should have stopped at the haiku. You blog was an inspiration to me today, Susan.

Can’t get what you want through elections? Try economic terrorism — with threats to blow up the US and global economies unless you get your way

    Don’t give terrorists “a win.”

It’s the far right this time. In the future it could be the far left. It needs to stop now. Otherwise we leave democracy and enter a new era of political terrorism.

With you all the way. I’m tired of these curmudgeons throwing fits because their billionaire friends need an extra billion and the president is in their way. That they’d want it so badly they’d starve schoolkids to get it hurts my head.

  6. kingmidget says:

Well said, Ms. Daniels. Apparently, they believe that when you lose an election, you increase your power. In California, the Republican party went through a long steady decline that led them to more and more extreme measures as they tried to retain some relevancy. They extremed themselves right into irrelevancy. Seems to me that’s what the Republican Party at the national level is doing now.

  7. Crimes against america! And worst of all, they are being paid while loyal and useful government workers are not. Shameful.

  8. Jeremy Nathan Marks says:

I’m with Alice on this one, I must say.

But I agree with Leo too. It’s a shame it has come to this, but I can’t imagine even giving half a thought to voting for any Republican.

  9. Disgraceful and, there’s no remorse! I am disgusted ! Excellent portrait ! Acutely expressed! xo
