if you pay attention
to small things
you don’t
have to prove anything
with a grand gesture
like stopping airplanes
or even traffic
just answer my words
written in sand
before waves claim them
that’s what i want.
the small impossible things,
like how you hold this heart gently
and don’t even know
it’s in your hands
That seems very personal Susan. Hopefully the someone sees these words.
oh, gosh, no–it was something that popped into my head while watching a Hugh Grant movie. I am not normally so sappy…
I wish you hadn’t told me about the Hugh Grant thing.
I know..I am ashamed to admit it–me + wine + Hugh Grant (whom I hate) + a movie full of grand gestures and no little ones…
Have you seen (500) Days of Summer? If you watch it and like it, you will have redeemed yourself in my eyes.
No, I have not, but I shall. 😉
You gotta lot of work to do to restore your image you know.
🙂 I will do my best!
cut her off Trent.. no more wine and movies for Susan
It’s Boardwalk Empire time, and then Treme. y’all are safe from emotional poetry for the night.
put the keyboard away
Unless it’s lots of wine and better movies. I think the damage has been done.
🙂 have to agree.
such a soft serious piece. I hope some one hears you
Audra, thanks…really. I detest moving into emotional poetry, but I was watching a chick flick and it just came out.
you just made me laugh so hard Susan… sorry
Ickl–see above–really 😉
you are one funny chicklet…hugh grant?
Oh, ICK–I hate him. But give me enough wine…
so now I am learning more and more of your vices. Cold medicine.. wine.. hugh grant. Good Lord Susan! No poetry when watching hugh grant or any movie for that matter
hahaha–deal! And, I normally HATE Hugh.
the funniest thing is that you are honest about it all…. you could have played us all. haaaa
Nah–I won’t lie to you guys…
laughing.. obviously 🙂
Oh that’s truly lovely. A little gem. That’s how the poets do it. 🙂
Aw, thanks much!
Lovely, lovely write Susan–this is just beautiful
Oh, gosh, Audrey–thank you!
Very lovely write and the comments are just as cool
Thanks, Bruce–those comments were fun!
I loved the comments as well 😛
hee, hee–they really are awesome!
Fantastic piece, love the soft but serious emotion. And if it helps at all, I too have a love-hate relationship with Hugh Grant. I mean, how annoying can someone be and how adorable? Camoon, his dancing in Love Actually!
🙂
You carry a big stick, powered by a gentle heart 🙂
😉 thanks, Ken. Maybe I speak too softly.
Soft has nothing to do with it, Susan. It’s the depth of your empathy that drives you.
Aw, Ken–you are kind to say so–and thanking you for that.
very nice
THank you, Celestine!
