she says she thinks too loudly
& I know what she means. my blood
shouts until the words come
formed deep & rising
in wheals through skin
not all words are mine.
not all love poems
have our names written
in invisible ink
between the lines
but i can dream us there
if i don’t write
i wear the words
or chant prayers
to forgotten gods
in my dreams
***partially inspired by Mari, of the loud thoughts.
oh gosh, thanks. Glad you liked it!
I love this, from the thinking loudly opening, to the imagery of the words flowing through the skin, to the dream closing.
David, thanks so much. Another one of those random thoughts that I had to chase like sunlight on the floor…
This is fantastic!
Julie–thank you so much!

I wear the words… love this line.
