we say summer fades
after Labor Day, but
we still have 18 days
late summer sparks leaves
to shift yellow to orange
branches catching fire
autumn steps lightly
the brown leaves hiding my path
just a hint of fall

These are lovely Susan ~ they sit so well together
Thank you, Polly. I refuse to let autumn arrive (no matter how much I love it) until the 22nd–my birthday is on the 19th and I am a summer baby, darn it!
Way to go with your Haiku self…well done! Doing this along with you guys but in my notes.
Aw, Boomie, share….please?
Very nice Susan liking them lots

Thanks so much, Ramesh!
Love the image of the branches catching fire!
Barbara, thank you. That is what I think of when it is full fall color here–the colors of burning brought on by frost.
Very nice, love that you linked the leaves catching fire with summer and the image of Autumn stepping lightly
thank you so much, Kathy. It is my favorite time of year.
“Branches catching fire” amazing writing !!!

Lovely light touch to the last one here – it feels as fine as a dried autumn leaf.
Thank you, Matthew.
Lovely set, specially the last one..hint of fall ~
Thanks so much, Grace!

oh, thank you–I love, love, love the fall.
It lurks near. Such a change, and heavy rain comes tonight.
Yes, it is coming…
A great time for reflection! Lovely to read you, Susan.
Thank you, Grace!
I’m Asni. 😉
Sorry–I have my head up my butt tonight 😦
Hehe! I just did the same thing at Valli’s blog! 😉 Blame it on the moon!
sparks and fire, and just a hint of fall
very true, let’s linger in the beauty and not rush things along
yes–my issue with fall is the brilliance does not last long enough…
I was able to imagine it…
Loved it…

Quick-draw Daniels? 😉 Hehe!
Wow!!…What a beautiful description of Autumn!….just lovely!
Thanks so very much.
“branches catching fire” – that is such a pretty and powerful fall image. Here in New England, the red maples and a bush called “burning bush” look exactly like that, as if they’d burst into flames over night.
oh–I love those “burning bush” plants–have some.
What can I say… thank god I came here today.. should I say anything more?

Counting the days, are you? 🙂
My Lady Autumn
