i heard hymns
sung in thunder
today
the deep bass drum
of the sky
torn open
to bleed rain

About Susan L Daniels
I am a firm believer that politics are personal, that faith is expressed through action, and that life is something that must be loved and lived authentically--or why bother with any of it?
Love those stormy nights.
Oh, me too!
Ow!!! Me loves this much…the imagery created.
Oh, thank you so much, Boomie. It was so loud, it was definitely a hymn played in drums…
There’s a symphony around us if we stop to listen. Glad you do Susan!
Thanks, David 🙂
so few words and yet I love it… love the summer rain

al’ue’cha!
Yes!
Such symbolism Susan ~ wonderful
Polly, thank you!
You could have prolonged the music experience in the last line with something like – whisper of rain. But that’s my take, ofcourse. 🙂
Thanks, Ken–good idea. i was somehow trying to make the sudden letdown of water more violent that a whisper–hence the bleed, which I think was actually more of a hemorrhage last night–it was such a hard rain, and so fast.
I see. Poets have to make choices, don’t they? 🙂
Yes–I do like the whispers, though, very much 😉
