we cleaned his room today
pulling monsters
from under the bed,
vacuuming shadows
from the closet
when everything
was folded & shelved
except the nightmares–
we tossed those out
i asked him
if he liked his room
this neat
he saidย yes,
but my heart
is still messy
Out of the mouths of babes … how delightful.
This poem has a nice rhythm and the imagery is just fab ~ nice one Susan
Thank you Polly–I think this one has to be attributed to Aryn–he says the most interesting things!
You are so lucky – I missed those moments with my kids, I like the way he thinks cool kid

Thanks for liking, and as to the dreamcatchers–what a great idea! I see a trip to the res in my future…soon!
( make one– they are fun and he will feel responsible for catching his nightmares– just an idea that worked for my youngest)
Beautiful poem.. Mom will now work with him to tidy things up within!
I kind of like the messiness of his heart. indicates an external conformity with an internal rebellion ๐
Poor little guy!
Yes–I hope his heart stays messy ๐
Points for he who speaketh truth. Well done.
๐ bless his messy heart. Messy=lived in, so all hearts should be a little untidy.
Great words from a great boy in the making
Thanks so much, Celestine! He is so full of feeling–glad he can find ways to express it ๐
