the bank

this is how
a soul feeds
puts down roots
grows

something
like a tree

matter
& stretching
not taller
just up

because that is what
trees know

(at least
in this poem

where I
put words
to their
mouthlessness)

leaning
only slightly
with them

to witness light
swim in water

About Susan L Daniels

I am a firm believer that politics are personal, that faith is expressed through action, and that life is something that must be loved and lived authentically--or why bother with any of it?

  1. Beautiful! suggest you upload the photos of the leaning branch and the plant that sprouts from a crack in a rock form to complete the effect

  2. i sense a hunger and thirst, a deepening of yourself ~ a need of becoming ~am I mistaken ?

  3. nelle says:
