this country was founded on God and nature
he says
but which God
and whose nature
should we return to
to revive
this staggering
bled out animal
not yet hamstrung
but close to it
I shout back at a radio
that is not listening
I am sick of speeches
& want to hear
past blame
thrown in faces
like acid
close ears
& open eyes
because
speech will not fix us
& party platforms
are rickety footing
to balance hope
You sure know how to end your poem with a big bang 🙂
thanks, K 🙂
Very nice social comments, liking it lots
Thanks, Ian 🙂
The circus over here is only going to get worse…
I drop off for a couple of days and find it’s hard to catch up with all of your work! I love your productivity, it is an example worth following. 🙂
I really like the frustration -even rage- that’s here. And the juxtaposition of speech beside
this staggering
bled out animal
really does capture the anger/despair I know I feel and am tapping into here.
I am so sorry, Jeremy–it can be rough going to catch up on my writing, and I give you LOTS of credit for trying 🙂
I really WAS yelling at the radio yesterday, during a certain speech given around 9 EST while I was in the car, driving somewhere. I asked Zoe to write down the phrase “hyperbolic acid” for me, and wrote the rest as soon as I came home 🙂
I’m glad to do it. It’s no chore or anything. 🙂
I am not sure who was making the speech (I am in a bit of media blank space at times and by choice, of course) but I think I can probably guess. 🙂
🙂 bet you could, too
this certainly has a bite to it. nicely done susan:)
Oui.
Powerful statement, Susan. I get angry too over here at the way our politicians talk and talk with action
Yes, I think it is a global problem…
