the shoelace game

first, my small fingers
untie his laces–he smiles
ties them up again

this was our first game
he made tight bows to stop me
and I freed them all

each new knot
a complex duel
of digits

***thought I would share my first memory in this set of haiku

    How touching, Susan. Grandpa will create and tolerate it for as many times that you want. He knows it’s a game for toddlers when there are ‘repeats’ Thanks for sharing!
