Gender Games

you said,
you wear the pants

an accusation,
as if yielding is female
and providing direction strictly male,

as if gender
holds importance
for us

tradition has no place here;

we are simply 2 people
stumbling toward family
any way we can

  1. My poor husband–still, after all these years, he has not learned that domestic squabbles often fuel creativity. When you live with a poet, anything you say is fair game for public exposure later. Open your mouth at your own risk….. Hmmmm–there might be an image in this thought I will want to use later, too.
