if they were planned
this squirrel-planted surprise
threads beneath my window
in a thin, military row–
small defiant suns
shouting through frost

What a long winter this year. Alice
Yes, but the crocuses are finally saying phooey–we’re late enough already. I love these little rodent surprises. I never plant them, but invariably a patch shows up somewhere unexpectedly on my lawn. Love it!
That’s one of the great things about bulbs. They have a tendency to migrate. We have irises and tulips and a few others scattered around our front yard. Every year they pop up in a slightly different place.
Yes, I love that! Squirrels and chipmunks love bulbs and plant them somewhere new almost every year.
Ah ‘small defiant suns’ ~ love that final verse Susan 🙂
Polly, thank you!
let them shout even harder….:)
