with what designs will you mark me
like mehndi on my palms
but not sun or stars henna-painted there
although I am some of these

instead a question mark
a permanent one
because I am what I was made to be
& still becoming

precisely what
& who that is.

    I could never mark a design on another, the canvas is theirs alone. Love the poetry and point, Susan (as always.)
