we loop from present
to past in the measured rainbow
filaments memory spins;
intricate and exquisite patterns
unnoticed when first laid down,
lost as they are in the immediate
work of shuttle, tread, and weave into fabric
even flawed, the beauty is in
the looking back
***Inspired by my friend NAI’s comment on “a memory.”
like the new theme…
Thanks–been toying around with it this afternoon/evening–think I am sticking with this 🙂
Ah yes, weaving! Measured rainbows is a very expansive image. A great way to capture the idea of memories alongside one another (they way I read it, at least).
Thanks so much Steven–I have to say I liked your woven imagery quite a lot!
And, yes–memory as a layered pattern, viewed next to one another is what I was seeing as I wrote it–but, of course I no longer own this one–it is up to you guys to interpret it 🙂
It is, and you do such a great job with these perspectives. A wonder for me… the continuity chain of life, from us to the first a billion years back, unbroken.
Yes–would love to see that fabric…
measured rainbow filamants – just beautiful. All the credit for this wonderful piece is entirely yours, SLD. I cannot see how my flawed comments could have inspired such a flawless poem!
Still thanking you for mentioning weaving–and thanks for liking this–wrote it at the creek bank, where I seem to do my best writing lately…
