the preamble
clearly states
we the people
not we the incorporated
owners of politicians
and justices
these freedoms
written here were bought
by blood, paid in lives
and now this place
evolves to one where money
is a form of speech
to be defended
what are my pennies saying
shouted over by millions–
my small change
clatters and piles on the floor
no matter what it has to say
not even counted
and my words
are worth less than that
strong air to stir
and scatter paper money
and laws on paper;
a renegade wind
to close out with a window slammed shut
kept out by a door never opened
Say it!
Thanks–shouting it, my friend!
I say let’s nail the window open, take the door off the hinges, and let some damned light and fresh air into those stinking chambers. No more closed doors, no more silent deals behind them. NO MORE. Remember the old tune “If I Had A Hammer”? Well, I have one and I know how to use it. Want to go nail something?
OMG, Peter, Paul and Mary time? Yes, although they might just invoke what’s left of the Smith Act (if anything–where’s a lawyer when you need one?) on both of us…Rhonda, that’s the mood I am in today 🙂
Being a moody woman is a GOOD thing. things happen when we are in a MOOD. Synchronize our Menzies then shall we?
oh, hon, let’s drag them behind us by their…mustaches, shall we?
yeah…or whatever hairy appendage is available! i’m not picky.
LOL! So not going there today, I’ma gonna be good…
The day of the new elites is let loose upon us!
I hate to say it, Noel, but it IS, it so IS…..
And unashamedly so.
Yes, not hiding it at all…ugh
Thank you for this.
I have been looking for ways of expressing my outrage but there are days when it can be better to hear it spoken by others. Somedays the best feeling is hearing others rage against the wrong. 🙂
Know what you mean, Jeremy. Today was my day to listen to some old Patti Smith, get my outrage on, and write it out 🙂
After I read what you wrote I linked Sharon Jones updated version of “This Land Is Your Land” on the old blog. If you have not heard it I recommend it. . . highly.
I am going to go check it out now–and thank you!
Reblogged this on T O R O S and commented:
Very well said indeed, Susan.
Thanks so much for the reblog, George–as I said over there, I really appreciate it!
Let’s not forget. The American dream of “All men are created equal…” was brought here across the Pacific in such words as: “Heaven does not create people above people, or people under people…” with an addition: “Fear (respect) the black people as well…”. It’s all forgotten here. The rich are getting richer, and the poor poorer, all under policies formed behind the closed door. We must get it back, but not at the price of blood and lives any more. We’ve lost more than enough already. There must be some other way, like enlightening through poetry. Thank you for a good sample.
Thank you so much, Mr. Akira. I hope this works, and you are right–it is time for a revolution of ideas, not blood.
like this too. it has a bukowski flare to it:)
Thanks–you made me blush with that…. I adore him!
Love this, absolutely love this.
Oh, thank you so much!
