water: three movements (a meditation)

become like water
clear, still, a moving mirror
rippling soft and shallow

become like water
fall downhill in long steep steps
of yielding water-ness

become a wave
and roar, angry force for change
tear away all but the essential

become like water
three necessary movements
of the same self

***the creek walks are becoming a great way to center on a daily basis…

About Susan L Daniels

I am a firm believer that politics are personal, that faith is expressed through action, and that life is something that must be loved and lived authentically--or why bother with any of it?

Ah, there are few metaphors that express quite as much as water. Must be the Piscean me that feels so at home with this.

    • Works for Virgos, too, George–or at least this one who was told by an astrologer many years ago her moon was in Scorpio…Whatever the case, I am drawn to water and find it is a constant source of centering and renewal for my spirit 🙂

  2. Mr. Walker's avatar Mr. Walker says:

Susan, this is awesome. I love water poems. You might want to link this to the most recent prompt at Poetic Bloomings, which is about water.

    Thoroughly enjoyed, Susan.

  4. Water – cleanse, refresh, calm, cool; Water, flood, waves, tsunami, torrent. Same water, different meanings, different associations! I see your meditation as pointing out to us the potentials of water – the positive, the peaceful, the constructive, the destructive – all are possible, with circumstances and terrains playing a determining role on which meaning and function become dominant!

  5. Bruce Ruston's avatar Ian Moone says:
