beauty surprises us sometimes
when we stumble over it
in the middle of a woods
instead of a manicured garden
three-petaled whiteness
a spontaneous gift
taking 10 years from when that ant
found the seed
& brought it back to the nest
for dinner
but spontaneous
in that now
the flower chooses to open
so my eyes can see it
