I never danced with the devil;
only my friend Michael
& now
I dance with a man
across hours, days, continents, cultures
without ever touching
& the music
is of our own making
***Here I am, savoring my morning coffee (sorry Jennifer), craving a cigarette to go with it (feel your pain, Rhonda–I am having it too), and reviewing my stats page, when I should be working. My eye happened upon an internet search that somehow included my blog in it–the search terms were “poems about dancing with the devil.”
Hmmm, not sure how my little blog got caught up in that–no dancing with devils here, but it did inspire this little fragment. Not sure if it is complete, or the hummed fragment of something to come, but I like it.
Glad you are dancing! Smiling about the coffee and vicariously drinking some. Tried something different this morning…got up a couple hours earlier to write and it worked.:) May Sarton is my favorite and I know she wrote first thing and then was out (in her garden etc. later in the morning). I really liked it today maybe just because I could pretend I was May for a day. Have a good Thursday.:) -Jennifer
You have a great day, too! Enjoy your day…. Amid all the twisted inspiration here, Noel & I are working on another duet, so we are dancing again–can’t wait to share it–we decided to accede to popular demand on both continents (and our own, too!) and try another one–hitting the site some time today, I think.
I love looking at the search terms that lead people to me. They make me laugh.
Enjoy your dancing with words today.
That one definitely made me smile!
